J.E. Lowder, author of the epic War of Whisper fantasy series is once again taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes. Lowder will be riding the Amelia Island, Florida course from October 27-30, to raise funds for Type One Diabetes research.
Type One Diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This insidious disease strikes both children and adults suddenly and is unrelated to diet and lifestyle. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing and lifelong dependence on injected insulin.
“With T1D, there are no days off, and there is no cure – yet,” says Lowder. “But JDRF is working every day to change that. Every dollar donated to my Ride will help JDRF continue to fund critical research that impacts the lives of millions of children, adults, and families affected by T1D. With your support, we will create a world without T1D and turn Type One into Type None.”
