Educator, youth pastor, and author Rev. Brian C. Johnson, Ph.D., is pleased to unveil his newest book, Finding God in the Bathroom, which released to retail on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, from WordCrafts Press. Johnson’s eclectic youth-oriented Bible study dares to explain Christian living principles in a way that blends grossology and theology.

“I suspect your jaw may be hitting the floor in disbelief right now,” Johnson acknowledges. “Chances are, you’ve never imagined spirituality discussed in this manner. Trust me, few would dare go where you are about to venture. But the truth is, as the popular children’s book so eloquently proclaims, Everybody Poops. Every human being on the planet has to do bathroomy types of activities on a fairly regular basis. Just imagine the experience of biblical truths explained in restroom-related terms!”

In Johnson’s new book, the old adage, “you are what you eat,” takes on a spiritual connotation as fecal matter is equated with sin which can be wiped away by careful use of the Word of God (toilet paper). The toilet, sink, and shower become tools to understanding faith at a deeper level for the teenager and young adult. While Johnson seeks to help teens and young adults learn spiritual truths about God through the sometimes gross bodily functions that go on in the bathroom, he is quick to point out that Finding God in the Bathroom is not a disrespectful, sarcastic, or satirical text [though it is quite humorous].

“I have the utmost respect for God and His Word,” he declares, “and I hope you do too!”

Some might question how can a toilet, sink, and a bathtub can help teenagers to know and understand Christ better. But the bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in the house, Johnson counters. “Beyond being the place for relieving ourselves, the bathroom is where we go for bathing and relaxing,” Johnson muses. “And for some of us, it’s the only location in our homes where we can get a little privacy. It’s a place where we can just sit and think and be alone with our thoughts. This book emphasizes that no matter where you go—even to the john—God is with you! Many people read in the bathroom. This book is specifically designed for just that!”
